Our Christmas Break

Happy New Year everyone! I hope all of you had a wonderful and magical holiday! I can't believe how quickly this past month, year, and holidays went! Wasn't it just the start of December?

Our Christmas break was so fun and memorable. It was one of the best Christmases I've had! Matt and I both have had the last ten days off work and I've loved being home together. Our vacation had a good mix of both busy and fun. We baked, watched Christmas movies, stuffed our bellies, crafted, and relaxed. Here's a quick recap of our break!

It was seriously so much fun! We took the girls to see Christmas lights, there's a neighborhood where all of the lights for the whole street is synced with a holiday radio station. Emma fell asleep, but Ellie thought it was just the coolest thing ever! She kept pointing out all the details and saying "Cuuuuuuuuute!".  We also painted our annual ornament, we've painted an ornament since Ellie's second Christmas and it's a tradition I want to keep doing and continue with my grandchildren. We baked, baked, and baked! We made a few batches of my Candied Almonds and Honey Butter for our co-workers and family, made so many cookies, and Rice Krispie treats for Santa (in which Ellie used an entire jar of sprinkles on).

We made reindeer food and sprinkled it on our lawn for Santa's reindeer, read lots of books, and woke up at the crack of dawn Christmas morning. I woke up at 4 and Matt at 5 with excitement and it was probably one of the few times the girls thought to sleep in. We couldn't wait anymore and decided to wake them up at 7. Ellie was thrilled, but Emma couldn't care less. She just wanted to eat the snacks in her stocking- which was crazy because she had ripped off all the paper on a ton of gifts and every single bow on the gifts under the tree that week. Go figure.

We spent a lot of time with family and friends, my Dad flew in from Utah to celebrate us and we also got to catch up with my childhood friend and her family for a breakfast date. We met up with some friends for bowling and it was the most fun I've ever had bowling! Ellie was such a pro and beat everyone both games! Sure, she had the bumpers, but still!

All in all, we ended the year one such a great note. Today we talked about what we want to do in 2017, our goals, what we want to learn, what we want as a family and for our home. I have a really great feeling for this year and a sense of determination to grow, thrive, learn, and love this new year. I wish all of you a happy and healthy new year that's filled with love and joy!
